Minutes:

Christine Majer, Policy Officer (Policy and Regional Affairs), presented the submitted report relating to an invitation from St. Quentin for a civic delegation from Rotherham (as their twin town) to join them for their celebrations of the 500th anniversary of their town hall.

It was proposed that a six strong delegation visit from Friday, 2nd to Monday, 5th October, 2009. The delegation would be led by the Mayor and Mayoress, also including Councillor Littleboy (as the Member for Town Twinning), Christine Majer (Policy Officer for International Links, to escort the Mayoress), Timothy Davies (interpreter) and a chauffeur/attendant from the Town Hall to accompany the Mayor and the Civic Regalia.

The estimated cost of the visit was £983 to be funded from the International Links Budget. The visit had been endorsed by the International Links Committee as it formed part of the approved Action Plan for 2009/10.

Resolved:- That the invitation be accepted and the delegation, as now reported, be authorised to visit St. Quentin from Friday, 2nd to Monday, 5th October, 2009.

(DUE TO THE URGENCY OF THIS MATTER, THE DEPUTY MAYOR WAS ASKED TO CONSIDER THE REPORT AND GAVE APPROVAL THAT THE DECISION BE EXEMPTED FROM THE CALL-IN PROCEDURE)
