Biography
Now a Brinsworth resident, I have also lived in Catcliffe and Treeton.
Educated at Catcliffe Primary School until 15 years of age, I left school and went to work at Treeton Colliery for 36 years until retiring as a Colliery Overman when the pit closed in 1990.
I have always had aspirations for improving the well being of the area for the people who live there. With my Trade Union experiences, I joined the Labour Party in an effort to be able to do this.
I spent 27 years serving on Treeton Parish Council until I left Treeton in 2003. I have also had experience on the former South Yorkshire County Council before being elected to Rotherham Borough Council in 1988 which lead me to be involved in Regional Bodies like the Arts Council, Museums and Libraries.
I have had experience of serving the Council on the Local Government Association as well as serving on the Museums Association Council.
The Members Allowance Scheme for 2008/09 gave me £13,386.00 and I claimed no travel or subsistence.
