Brief Description of Decision:

A decision was taken on 4^th December 2020 to provide a further top up from the Hardship Fund to eligible LCTS claimants. The top-up to be provided in February 2021 to maximise the grant allocation within the current financial year.

The value of the further top-up has now been determined as a maximum amount of £250 making the overall maximum amount of support for an LCTS claimant £450.

Reasons for the Decision:

To continue to provide support to economically vulnerable people and households in the Borough from the allocation of the Hardship Fund from central government and to maximise the use of the grant allocation.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

A range of top-up values was considered and £250 was determined as the amount most likely to use up all of the remaining grant with only a small risk that the Council might spend slightly more than the grant allocation, depending on the volume of new LCTS claims approved for the remainder of 2020/21.
