Purpose:

The Food Standards Agency requires all Competent Authorities to have an up-to-date, documented Food and Feed Service Plan, which is readily available to food and feed business operators and consumers.  This plan must be subject to regular review and clearly state the period for which the plan has effect.

 

The decision is to approve the Council’s Food and Feed Service Plan for 2022/23.

The statutory guidance, Food Law Practice (England) (Food Standards Agency March 2021), at 2.6.1.2, states that competent authorities must,  ‘… submit the plan for approval, whether that is at Member, Member forum or suitably delegated senior officer level.’ The Food Law Practice (England) (Food Standards Agency March 2021) compliments the statutory code of practice, Food Law Code of Practice (England) (Food Standards Agency March 2021) which is made pursuant to section 40 (1) of the Food Safety Act 1990

 

The Council’s Sub-Scheme of Delegation, delegates authority to the Assistant Director of Community Safety and Street Scene to discharge functions contained within the Food Safety Act 1990

To approve the Council’s Food and Feed Service Plan for 2022/23

Reasons for the Decision:
