Brief Description of Decision:

Decision to award the contract for Waste Management collection and disposal of all waste from Rotherham PFI School to Veolia following a competitive tender process in-line with public procurement legislation, with effect from 1 April 2019.

Reasons for the Decision:

The total value of the provision (£520k over a three year period) exceeds threshold for quotations and therefore the action was to fulfil the public procurement legislation for the provision of services. The requirement was to continue the service provision which has been in place since 2003.  The provision has been tendered periodically in-line with procurement legislation.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

The in-house waste management team were notified of the opportunity to tender.  Previously they have not been in a position to provide a service.  There was no in-house tender submitted for consideration.

Lot 1 – Total of 3 tender submissions, 2 submissions were rejected on price/quality.  Veolia was the successful bidder.

Lot 2 – Total of 2 tender submissions, 1 submission was rejected on price/quality.  Veolia was the successful bidder.
