Brief Description of Decision:

To approve the conversion of the status of the existing footways shown on Drawing No 126/17/461 to that of shared use cycle and footway on Fenton Road, Simmonite Road, Roughwood Road, Park View, Munsbrough Rise and Coach Road, utilising powers under Section 65(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980

Reasons for the Decision:

This will help improve accessibility for cyclists to Rotherham Town Centre from areas to the west such as Kimberworth Park, Wingfield and the Greasbrough area

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

A do nothing option has been considered.  The current cycle infrastructure in the area is prohibitive to promoting the active travel behaviour of local residents and visitors to the Town Centre.
