Brief Description of Decision:

To consider receipt of objections to a proposal to introduce a number of ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions on Kimberworth Road and adjacent roads, to address inappropriate parking in the area.

Reasons for the Decision:

Following consideration of all options and the objections received, it is recommended that a revised scheme be progressed. These proposals are shown in drawing 126/18/TT716.2 and aim to improve the safe and free flow of all modes of traffic.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

Following receipt of a number of requests into the council investigates inappropriate parking around the Ferham Clinic area, a number of options have been considered.

Option one looked into the possibility of the Parking enforcement team carrying out enforcement action around the Ferham Clinic area, but due to the limited amount of parking restrictions in the area little can be done.

Option two looked into the introduction of a number of waiting restrictions in areas. This will provide the necessary enforceable restrictions to help deter vehicle parking on the surrounding footways and junctions. These parked vehicles also mask pedestrians when trying to cross the road and interrupt inter-visibility of pedestrians and vehicles.

Option three was a ‘do nothing’ option.  This was considered but due to the nature of the road, it was felt that the removal of the obstructive parking will help to ensure the safe and free movement of all road users in the area.
