Brief Description of Decision:

That the Strategic Director of Regeneration and Environment authorises, in line with Contract Standing Orders Section 34 Delegation Arrangements, the tender submitted by O & P Construction Services on 6 April 2021 for the refurbishment of the existing Dinnington RNN Buildings to accommodate the new SEMH provision and Newman school.

Reasons for the Decision:

The approval to proceed with the purchase of Dinnington RNN College was given by Cabinet on 23 November 2020 (Minute No.72). The approval granted permission to purchase Dinnington RNN College, Blocks A, B C and D and to adapt the buildings to accommodate the new SEMH provision and Newman school.

Block A will be adapted to provide a primary and secondary designated SEMH educational provision for up to 125 children and young people.

Blocks C and D will be adapted to provide upper school provision for 40 young persons from Newman school.

To the rear of A block the land is to be adapted to provide, along with other outdoor space, the required soft play and hard play areas for both Newman and the SEMH school.

For the planned works to take place, Block B is to be demolished.  The demolition falls outside the scope of this procurement and will be dealt with through a separate procurement exercise.
