Purpose:

Cabinet approved acceptance of the Multiply Grant at their meeting on 19th June 2023 and delegated authority to agree grant awards to training providers to deliver learning activities.

 

Following a bidding process overseen by officers from RiDO, this paper seeks officer approval for the agreed awarding of grants to delivery organisations.

Bidding for external funding and grant aid, special financial packages for economic development/regeneration for both revenue and capital schemes, and their subsequent implementation

Cabinet approved the following recommendations on 19th June 2023.

 

  1. Approve the acceptance and planned spend of an annual Multiply grant of £408,000 from SYMCA, for each of the years 2023/24 and 2024/25.

 

  1. Delegates authority to the Assistant Director of Planning, Regeneration and Transport in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, to agree grant awards, within the terms and conditions of the funding, to colleges, community organisations and other training providers to deliver the agreed learning activity and outputs for the Programme.

 

 

Brief Description of Decision:

To approve the allocation of Multiply grants to a range of delivery organisations.

 

Reasons for the Decision:

To allow the awarding of grants to local voluntary and community organisations to provide numeracy support to local residents, with a focus on those furthest from employment.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

Do nothing: This would mean the grant would not be received and the activity not delivered; to the disbenefit of Rotherham residents
