·       In accordance with Financial and Procurement Procedure Rules, matters relating to the specification for works, goods and services, the seeking of estimates, quotations and tenders, the evaluation of the same and acceptance of tenders relating to contracts for works, goods and services in accordance with approved budgets or supplementary estimates.

 

Brief Description of Decision:

That the Assistant Director of Culture Sport and Tourism, in line with Contract Standing Orders Section 46.5 Delegation Arrangements, approves the tender submitted by R H Fullwood & Co Ltd on 9th June 2023 for the construction of a retaining wall to the front face of wall C only at St Helens Churchyard Annex & the rear of 11 and 13 Washfield Crescent, Treeton.

 

Reasons for the Decision:

Repair works and strengthening of the walls is required to prevent further deterioration and collapse. The retaining (and other boundary) walls are at risk of collapse which if it were to happen could have serious safety implications.   Any collapse may reveal human remains, causing distress to bereaved relatives and the general public.  This would in turn affect the Council’s reputation.
