Develop artistic plans and create, curate, commission and programme arts, cultural sporting and nature-based events.  Arrange and contract performers/exhibitors, etc. and programme professional and amateur performance, lectures, events and exhibitions in accordance with Council policies.

In accordance with Section 4C6 - Responsibility for Functions, of the Constitution (Appendix 9)  for the Strategic Director Of Regeneration and Environment – Delegated Executive Functions (Section 2 – Culture, Sport and Tourism).

Decision:

To tender for a creative Pantomime Partner to create a co-produced annual pantomime from 2025 – 2028.

To award the Rotherham Civic Theatre Pantomime Partner Contract (2025-2028) to Blue Genie Entertainment Ltd.

Reasons for the Decision:

The decision is the outcome of a competitive tendering process.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

Do nothing: Without a procurement process to secure an option for the annual pantomime the theatre risks losing a third of its total income.

Off the shelf productions: Off-the-shelf productions bring sets that are ready made, having been built for other receiving houses and therefore looking tired and often requiring adaption for the Rotherham Civic Theatre.

Following the evaluation of a competitive tender process, it is the recommendation of the project team that the Council progresses to issue an intent to award to Blue Genie Entertainment Ltd.
