ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN Minutes: Resolved:- That Councillor Shaukat Ali be elected Chairman of the Rotherham Borough Council for the ensuing Municipal Year and that he be entitled to the style of Mayor by virtue of Section 245(1) of the Local Government Act 1972.
Mover: Councillor Kirk Seconder: Councillor Dodson
Councillor Ali thereupon made and subscribed the statutory declaration of acceptance of office.

Vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor Minutes: Resolved:- That the Council tender its sincere thanks to Councillor Gwendoline Ann Russell for the excellent manner in which she has carried out all her duties as Mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham.
And that the best thanks of this Council be recorded for the kind and admirable way in which Councillor Pat Russell performed the duties of Mayoress.

· From 19 residents of Whiston regarding changes to the Warden Service.
Resolved:- That the petitions be referred to the appropriate Directorates for consideration.

QUESTIONS TO CABINET MEMBERS Minutes: Councillor Thirlwall asked, in view of the recent national publicity on Members of Parliament having to pay back monies incorrectly claimed from the Government, could the Leader tell him if any Councillors had had to pay monies back to the Council that were incorrectly claimed in the for of either expenses, Council Tax, Housing Benefit etc.
The Leader reported the answer to this question would be provided in writing. |

Delegation of Powers PDF 42 KB Additional documents: Minutes: Consideration was given to the revised Scheme of Delegation of Powers to Members and Officers, which had been updated to reflect the changes recommended to Council by Cabinet with a clerical correction to Paragraph 1 on Page 23 to read “That Cabinet Members authorise attendances for Members on Council business related to their portfolios at locations within the UK”.
