Further to Minute No. 275 of the meeting of the Cabinet Member for Social Services held on 28^th May, 2004 consideration was given to the content of a report which sought Members’ approval to an updated protocol which underpins referral and advice arrangements between Children and Families Services and Housing Services.  A copy of the updated protocol was submitted, its aim being to improve on current arrangements for referral and liaison and comply with current legislation, regulations and good practice.

Subsequent comments were made in respect of the situation of young people under 18 and it was clarified that a joint assessment of 16 and 17 year olds would continue to take place and that vulnerable young people would also continue to be assessed in accordance with statutory requirements.

Resolved:-  That the protocol would be approved for implementation within and between Housing and Environmental Services and Social Services (Children and Families).
