Exclusion of the Press and Public.

Minutes:

Resolved:- That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 4 of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (staffing matters/negotiations)

Revision to Council Smoking Policy

Minutes:

The Assistant Chief Executive, Strategic Human Resources, and Human Resources Manager, Policy and Partnerships, presented the submitted report relating to the above.

 

The report indicated that considered changes to the Council’s existing Smoking Policy had been reviewed against the requirements of the smoke free regulations.

 

The Policy sought to protect the health of all staff and users of Council services by ensuring a smoke free environment and also sought to promote the health of employees by supporting any staff wishing to give up smoking.

 

The report contained the proposed revisions to the Smoking Policy which incorporated further amendments following initial comments by Corporate Management Team and consultation with the trades unions.

 

Appended to the report were:-

 

-     Existing Smoking Policy.

 

-     Revised Smoking Policy.

 

-     Smoking guidelines for employees who work in residential care homes and community settings.

 

Discussion and a question and answer session ensued and textual amendments were agreed.

 

Resolved:- (1) That the information be noted.

 

(2) That the proposed revised policy be amended as now discussed and a further report be submitted.
