Property and Land occupied by current Sport and Leisure Facilities

Ian Smith, Director of Asset Management to report.

-           to seek approval to declare property and land occupied by current Sport and Leisure facilities surplus to requirements of Culture and Leisure Services.

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report, presented by the Director of Asset Management, seeking approval to declare property and land, currently vested within Culture and Leisure Services, surplus to requirements.

Reference was made to the Sport and Leisure PFI Business Case. Plans accompanying the report identified the following properties and land:-

-                      Herringthorpe Leisure Centre

-                      Mowbray Gardens Swimming Pool

-                      Wath Swimming Pool

-                      Dinnington Comprehensive Swimming Pool

-                      Maltby Sports Centre

-                      Thrybergh Sports Centre

-                      Oakwood Swimming Pool

-                      Wingfield Swimming Pool

-                      Swinton Swimming Pool

-                      Aston Comprehensive Sports Centre

It was pointed out that opportunities for the future use of the land and property were still to be determined.  However, it may be that at some point in the future they may support the Medium Term Capital Programme.

In the interim there would be costs associated with protecting the buildings and site security.

Resolved:-  (1)  That the sports and leisure facilities, listed above, be declared surplus to the requirements of the Culture and Leisure Service.

(2)  That the Director of Asset Management submit a briefing paper to a future meeting of the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development Services in respect of the future of these sites.
