Steve Mellard, Streetpride Landscape Manager, to report.

-           to report the petition received with regard to the maintenance of shrub borders at the aged person centre, Heighton View.

Consideration was given to a report, presented by the Streetpride Landscape Manager, relating to the receipt of a petition signed by residents at Heighton View Aged Persons’ Centre, Swallownest requesting the pruning of shrubs.

It was reported that a site meeting had taken place along with consultation with the Warden at the site noting health and safety issues.  As a result works to clear footways from hazards together with vegetation from the shrub borders had taken place.

It was reported that Streetpride’s programme for shrub maintenance work and general tidy up of the borders at this site was scheduled for mid August.

A number of other issues relating to the current grounds maintenance contract were discussed including machinery breakdown and lack of adequate maintenance of equipment.

It was however noted that additional funding had been provided for grass cutting and seasonal bedding.

Resolved:-  That Streetpride Service carry out shrub maintenance as part of the grounds maintenance programme ensuring a safe and pleasing landscape environment at this location.
