Exclusion of the press and public

Resolved:-  That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (information relating to the financial/business affairs of any person (including the Council)).

Non-Traditional Properties Structural Works – Phase 3 Tender Submissions

Minutes:

The Director of Housing and Neighbourhood Services submitted a report seeking approval to appoint a contractor to undertake structural repairs to 37 ‘Airey’ non-traditional properties across the Borough previously approved for investment (Minute No. 147 of 1st March, 2010 refers).

 

Tender documents had been prepared and posted on the SCMS-Alito e-tendering website on 10th May, 2010, to undertake the structural repair investment programme.  Tenders were ring fenced to 4 contractors with a deadline date of 28th May.  Only 2 contractors returned tenders within the deadline.

 

A financial forecast for the delivery of the programme will be finalised with the appointed contractor prior to start on site. 

 

Urgent approval was required in order to appoint a contractor to begin works in July, 2010 and conclude in October, 2010, to meet spend requirements

 

Resolved:-  (1)  That (in accordance with the Council's Constitution (Overview and Scrutiny Arrangements)), and subject to the Mayor's agreement, the tender submitted by Henry Boot Construction dated 28th May, 210, in the sum of £1,143,264.96 be approved.

 

(2)  That it be noted that (1) above was subject to Planning approval being achieved at the Planning Board on 10th June, 2010.
