Minutes:

Further to Minute No. 56 of the meeting of the former Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development Services held on 20th April, 2009, consideration was given to a report, presented by the Principal Traffic Officer, which informed Members of the updated RMBC Network Management Plan Action Plan, which contained actions that were required to be implemented in order that the Authority was able to demonstrate compliance with the statutory Network Management Duty of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The following aspects were highlighted:-

-                      progress towards the possible introduction of a permit scheme for road works.  It was pointed out that this would involve the Utility companies and other organisations that promote works on the highway, and would allow the Council to co-ordinate works better.

-                      Working with the Highways Agency on tactical diversion routes

-                      Appointment of a South Yorkshire Key Routes Inspector

-                      Review of traffic signal timings on key routes to reflect current road conditions

Councillor Russell, Cabinet Member for Streetpride, was unable to be present due to other urgent Council business.  He therefore considered this report in advance on 16th April, 2010 and was in agreement with the recommendations, and was satisfied that the matter could be dealt with in his absence by the Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Planning and Transportation.

Resolved:-  (1)  That the RMBC Network Management Action Plan for 2010/11 be approved and actions implemented.

(2)  That the RMBC Network Management Plan Action Plan be reviewed annually with further reports submitted as appropriate to the joint meeting of Cabinet Members for Economic Development, Planning and Transportation Services and Streetpride Service.
