The following item is likely to be considered in the absence of the press and public as being exempt under the Police Act 1997 and Paragraphs 3 and 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (business affairs and prevention of crime)

Resolved:- That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the Police Act 1997 and Paragraphs 3 and 7 of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (business affairs and prevention of crime).

This meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Licensing Board had been scheduled to consider a report, presented by the Licensing Manager, relating to applications for the grant and renewal of hackney carriage/private hire drivers’ licences in respect of Messrs. M.H. and M.U.

Ultimately, neither driver had been able to attend this meeting (for reasons acceptable to the Authority) and therefore the Chair and the Vice-Chair of the Sub-Committee determined that the Sub-Committee meeting should not proceed and that:-

(1) further to Minute No. C32(3) of the Commissioner’s Case Hearing meeting held on 20th January, 2016 and Minute No. 38(4) of the meeting of the Licensing Board Sub-Committee held on 16th October, 2017, consideration of the application from Mr. M.H. for the renewal of his hackney carriage/private hire driver’s licence be deferred and he be afforded the opportunity of attending a future meeting of the Licensing Board Sub-Committee;  and

(2) further to Minute No. C34(4) of the Commissioner’s Case Hearing meeting held on 25th January, 2016, consideration of the application from Mr. M.U. for the grant of a hackney carriage/private hire driver’s licence be deferred and he be afforded the opportunity of attending a future meeting of the Licensing Board Sub-Committee.
