Councillor Beaumont - Personal Statement

Minutes:

Councillor Beaumont gave the following personal statement:-

 

“I refer to the Licensing Sub-Committee held on 10th July, 2020.  I would like to offer my sincere apologies to the applicant, Committee Members and Officers at the meeting and to the public viewing the meeting remotely.  It is possible that some people may have taken offence at some of the language used by myself during the meeting.  I would like to reassure everyone that it was never my intention to be offensive.  I will attend the next equalities training offered to Elected Members and ensure it informs my practice in the future.”

Exclusion of the Press and Public

 

The following item is likely to be considered in the absence of the press and public as being exempt under the Police Act 1997 and Paragraphs 3 and 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (business affairs and prevention of crime)

Minutes:

Resolved:- That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the Police Act 1997 and Paragraphs 3 and 7 of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (business affairs and prevention of crime).

Applications for the Grant/Renewal/Review of Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Drivers' Licences

Minutes:

Further to Minute No. 90 of 7th December, 2020, the Sub-Committee of the Licensing Board considered a report of the Licensing Manager relating to an application for the review of the hackney carriage/private hire driver licence in respect of Mr. I.A.

 

It was also noted that the re-convened meeting had been arranged for 14th December, 2020, but had been cancelled due to the illness of Mr. I.A.

 

Mr. I.A. was in attendance at the meeting together with his representative.

 

Mr. I.A’s representative drew the Sub-Committee’s attention to a number of contradictions relating to dates stated within the report and requested an adjournment in order for further investigation by Licensing to take place.

 

Resolved:- That the meeting be adjourned in order for the Licensing Service to undertake further investigation into the issues raised.
