Brief Description of Decision:

The purpose of this report is to consider the introduction of a banned right turn movement on Rotherway, Motorway Service Area (northern exit), also shown on Appendix A. The key recommendation of the report is to continue with the making of the order for the proposal.

Reasons for the Decision:

There is a risk that without implementing the proposed banned right turn to better reflect the road environment, drivers may try access the adjacent circulatory carriageway of the M1 junction 33, with the potential for a collision to increase.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

Do nothing and manage traffic flow without the banned right turn movement.
