Decision:

Procure a Housing Needs Assessment and Supported Housing Strategy.

Reasons for the Decision:

A housing needs assessment is required to help the Council understand the local housing market and the different types of housing need within the borough. This type of assessment provides essential data and research to assist with the council in planning for new homes, and ensuring that the new homes built meet the variety of needs across the borough, now and in the future. It also helps the council plan services and work in partnership to meet local need.

More recently guidance has been published by the government that sets out requirements for each local authority to carry out a supported housing needs assessment and produce a supported housing strategy. It must be in place by the 31^st March 2027 and should be updated every five years.

The procurement of a housing needs assessment and supported housing strategy is being taken to meet a statutory requirement.
