Brief Description of Decision:

 

 

To approve the tender submitted by O & P Construction to build a two classroom extension at Milton School.

Reasons for the Decision:

 

 

The procurement process was undertaken in order to identify a contractor to build a two classroom extension at Milton School to provide an additional 20 places for students with SEND.  This is part of the Council’s SEND Strategy to increase SEND places for children with autism spectrum conditions, moderate learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health issues across Rotherham.

 

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

 

The approved Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) Capital Programme (approved at the Cabinet meeting on
16 September 2019), includes the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) phase 2, with the works at Milton allocated £398,000.

 

The cost of these tendered works is £382,880, which can be contained within the approved budget, with the surplus £15,120 being added to the sub programme contingency.
