Designate, de-designate and amend the boundaries of Local Sites for geodiversity interest (including Regionally Important Geological Sites) following recommendations from the relevant Local Sites panel.

Brief Description of Decision:

Change of boundaries to two Rotherham Regionally Important Geological Sites.

Reasons for the Decision:

Its approval and integration into planning policy would contribute towards the robustness of the Local Plan.

Details of alternative options considered and rejected:

Option to not amend the site boundaries:Not reflecting the new RIGS boundaries would mean the Local Site System is not kept up to date. The amended boundaries have been identified and agreed by the expert Local Geological Sites Panel as meriting inclusion. The Council would not be abiding by requirements to maintain an up to date system if it did not amend the boundaries.
