STOP the Proposed Keepmoat Residential Development on the Green Hill at Mansfield Road, Swallownest

We the undersigned petition the council to We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens, respectfully petition Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to REJECT the planning application by Keepmoat Homes for a new residential development on the green land overlooking Swallownest, adjacent to Mansfield Road. We demand that this beautiful green space is protected from development.

REASONS FOR OPPOSITION
The proposed development is wholly inappropriate for this site and will cause significant harm to the local community and environment for the following reasons:

A. Loss of Essential Green Space and Visual Amenity:
The land in question is a prominent and beautiful green hill that provides a vital and irreplaceable visual break in the urban landscape. Its development would permanently destroy a stunning, cherished view for hundreds of existing residents, fundamentally eroding the character and aesthetic appeal of the Swallownest area.

B. Unacceptable Strain on Local Infrastructure:
Swallownest is already experiencing a rapid increase in housing (Geeson Homes proposed development) further down the road. This cumulative development will overwhelm essential local services, including:

Traffic Congestion: Adding hundreds of new vehicles to an already busy route, leading to gridlock and safety issues.

Oversubscribed Schools and Healthcare: Further straining local schools, GP surgeries, and dental practices that are already operating at or beyond capacity.

C. Cumulative Impact and Overdevelopment:
Allowing development on this particular site, in addition to the existing mass-scale building projects underway, represents unsustainable overdevelopment that prioritizes builder profit over the quality of life for current residents. We must preserve remaining green buffers and prevent a detrimental impact on local wildlife.

D. Negative Impact of Construction on Residents:
The construction phase itself will subject hundreds of nearby residents to prolonged, excessive, and unavoidable noise, dust, and vibration, severely degrading the living environment and health of the community for the duration of the building work.
