Approval was granted on 1st December 2023 by RMBC to install
speed humps on Racecourse Road. Due process was followed with full
consultation to all residents. The majority of residents supported
the much needed scheme and hence approval was granted with work
programmed to begin in February. This is now under threat as a
petition has been raised by Councillor Lewis Mills (Bramley and
Ravenfield) to overturn the decision and stop the proposed works.
Residents have been campaigning for years to address the issue of
speeding motorists and increase the safety of residents. Past
accidents and data recorded, highlight the need for such traffic
calming measures.
Due process was followed and full consultation undertaken within
the correct timescales. Anyone wishing to object could have done so
during this period.
Residents overwhelmingly supported this scheme when consulted
showing a real desire for this scheme to go ahead.
We have therefore created a counter petition to ensure that the
work proceeds as planned to ensure the safety of the public
including local school children walking to and from school
daily.
This petition ran from 12/02/2024 to 15/04/2024 and has now finished.
141 people signed this petition.
